Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

HSCT in Europe

The European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) carry out an annual survey of HSCT activity in Europe. The first survey was carried out in 1990 which allows trend information to be generated. Their survey identified that of the 25,050 new transplants undertaken in 2006, 15,383 were autologous and 9,661 were allogeneic.

Adding the re-transplants (772) and additional transplants (71) the total number of allogeneic transplants in 2006 was 10,504.
